NHA study upsets local history proponents

“I’m coming, as you know, with disappointing news,” National Park Service (NPS) Project Manager Tom Thomas said. During two meetings Jan. 10 -- some 50 people at the first one that afternoon; nearly 25 at the second that evening -- representatives of local and regional organizations connected to American Revolutionary War history in South Carolina expressed their disappointment with the findings of a recent NPS study. The study, created by legislation sponsored by former U.S. Rep. John Spratt, concerned a proposal to create a Southern Campaign of the Revolution National Heritage Area (NHA).
