One person died Saturday morning in a single-car accident on Black River Road.

The accident happened at 2:05 a.m. as the driver was traveling west-bound on Black River Road in a 2006 Ford Focus, according to Lance Cpl. Trevor Clinton with the S. C. Highway Patrol.

"The driver ran off the road, overturned, igniting a fire," Clinton said.

The driver died as a result of fatal injuries sustained during the crash.

At presstime on Sunday afternoon, Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers said the victim had not been identified.

"An autopsy is being done right now and we're looking at dental records," Fellers said.

The accident remains under investigation.
