The Larry Jeffers American Legion Post 195, along with the Lugoff Fire Department (LFD), will host a flag disposal ceremony at 7 p.m. May 28 at the Elks Lodge off U.S. 1 in Lugoff.

There are two drop-off sites for flags, which may be national, POW or state: the LFD and the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce.

Contact Bill Heil, adjutant for Post 195, at 438-8614 for more information on how to drop off flags or for directions to the ceremony. Flags may also be brought to the ceremony or left at the Elks lodge.

The public is urged to attend the ceremony and observe the proper disposal of the National Flag.

Post 195 will also place national flags at the headstones of all graves in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery at 3 p.m. May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.

Volunteers are invited to help the post with this task, which will include nearly 1,000 graves in the cemetery. The group will meet at the cemetery, located on Percival Road in northeast Richland County, between 2:30 and 3 p.m.

For more information, contact Heil.
