Registration for a number of fun and exciting summer camps is now underway at the Kershaw County Recreation Department:
Camden High Soccer Camp
Camden High Soccer camp, instructed by Camden High School (CHS) Varsity Girls Coach Aaron Mayes, this Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the CHS track and field facility. For ages 8 to 14. $50 per camper (includes T-shirt). Campers need to bring water bottles, soccer ball, shin guards and cleats.
Lugoff-Elgin Soccer Camp
Lugoff-Elgin Soccer Camp, instructed by Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS) Varsity Boys Coach Brian Witt July 27 - 31, 9 a.m. to noon, for ages 7 to 14. $60 per camper. Held at the L-EHS soccer fields. Campers need to bring water bottles, soccer ball, shin guards and cleats.
H20 Fun Camp
This swim camp, from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, July 27 through Thursday, July 30, is offered to boys and girls ages 6 to 11 years old who already have basic swimming skills. They must be able to swim 25 yards independently. The instructors are experienced Red Cross Lifeguards. They will provide unique and fun activities in and out of the pool. Participants will learn how to play safely as a team in and around water as well as having tons of fun! This is not a swim lesson; it is for recreation only. Camp is at the Kershaw County Aquatic Center and is $60 per camper.
Bricks 4 Kidz Camps
There will be a variety of camps offered during the summer for boys and girls. Listed below are the titles for each camp and the week/time offered. For camp description, please refer to their website: www.bricks4kidz.com/necolumbia. Sessions will be held at the recreation department in the small room. Pre-registration is required and there is a minimum requirement for each camp in order to be held. Cost is $100 for half-day camp or $175 for the whole day per camper with each camper keeping the mini-figure they make and any art work associated with the camp. The camp will be held June 22-26, 8:30 a.m. to noon for Super Hero Academy/ages 5-8; and 1 to 4:30 p.m. for Animal Grossology/ages 5 and up. July 27-31, 8:30 a.m. to noon for Mining and Crafting, ages 8 and up; and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Space Adventures and Star Wars, ages 5 and up.
Instructed by Patty and Larry Blackmon. Junior classes, 6 p.m. for ages 16 to 20, four classes, $25 per person. Beginner classes, ages 21 and up, 7 p.m., six classes $50 per person. Intermediate classes, ages 21 and up, 8 p.m., four classes, $50 per person.
