Registration for summer camps ends Wednesday

Registration for a number of fun and exciting summer camps continues at the Kershaw County Recreation Department:

Sports Fun Camp

Boys and girls 6 to 12 years old can learn basic fundamentals of baseball, soccer, basketball and football in this day camp. They will also play fun games such as kickball, volleyball, Frisbee golf, table tennis and horseshoes. Skill development, competition, team work and fun are the main objectives. Coach April Garner will instruct the campers. Snacks are provided, but campers must bring a bag lunch.

The camp runs Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Recreation Department “Big Room.” The cost is $60 per camper; $5 reduction for each additional child. Pre-registration required by Wednesday.

L-E Baseball Camp

Beginners through advanced players ages 7 to 13 are welcome to attend and learn the fundamentals or improve skills. Randy Stokes, Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS) varsity baseball coach, will teach the camp, with local players assisting. The camp runs June 1-3, Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to noon at the L-EHS baseball field, Hwy. 1 ,Lugoff. Cost is $45.00 per camper; $5 reduction for each additional child. Pre-registration required by Wednesday.

Cheerleading Camp

Camden High School varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders will instruct the camp. Girls ages 4 to 8 will learn cheer, and girls ages 9 to 12 will learn dance. The camp runs June 2-4, Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. until noon in the Camden High School gym, 1022 Ehrenclou Drive, Camden. Ages 4-12 years old welcome. Cost is $45 per camper and includes a T-shirt. Pre-registration required by Wednesday.

Baseball Camp

Learn the fundamentals of baseball or improve skills in this camp. Daily training sessions include hitting, base running, sliding and all aspects of defense. Campers will get one-on-one instruction. Camden High School (CHS) Baseball Coach Denny Beckley and high school players will be instructing. The camp runs June 1-5, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until noon at the CHS baseball field, 1022 Ehrenclou Drive, Camden. Campers 6-13 years old welcome. Cost $60 per camper; $10 reduction for 2 or more children. Includes T-shirt. Pre-registration required by Wednesday.

Lap Swim

Scheduled time for pool members ages 16 and older to swim laps. $30 per month for non-member Monday through Thursday, 7:15 to 8 a.m. beginning June 1.

Water Aerobics

$45 per month, $15 per week. Monday through Thursday, 8 to 8:55 a.m. beginning June 1.
