Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church recently presented its George Mason/Bessie Parker Memorial Scholarships at its annual youth worship services. The scholarships are awarded to members of LSUMC who are entering their first year of higher education. It is based upon participation in church activities, participation in school and community service and scholastic achievement. The scholarship honors Mason, a former sexton, gardener and caretaker at the church; and Parker, a former minister of visitation. This year’s recipients, Morgan Wilson, Catherine Clyburn, Virginia Lackey and Richard White, were presented a $1,500 scholarship by LSUMC Youth Director Mary Abbott and Senior Pastor Rev. Steve Patterson. Wilson, Lackey and White are seniors at Camden High School. Clyburn is a senior at Cardinal Newman High School, Columbia.
