Spotting Venus
Venus Transit
Venus appears as a black dot transiting the Sun in this photograph taken Tuesday by Ed Roberts of Dalzell. Roberts -- who plays tuba with the Camden Community Concert Band -- took the photo through welder’s glass using a Kodak Easyshare camera with a 21x wide-angle lens. In most pictures published around the globe, Venus appears at the “bottom” of the Sun. Roberts said that is because those pictures were taken through telescopes which flip the photograph.
