Barwick wins District 35 Republican runoff

Republican Tony Barwick has been chosen by voters to face Democrat Thomas McElveen in the general election for S.C. Senate District 35. Barwick topped fellow Republican Wade Kolb in a primary runoff election held Tuesday to win the district, which is anchored in Sumter County, but also includes parts of Lee, Kershaw and Richland Counties. The Sumter businessman captured 57 percent of the vote, compared to Kolb’s 43 percent.
