Laurie Funderburk: ‘Kershaw County always traveled with me’
Years of Public Service - Part Two of Two
Laurie Funderburk Dec 2020
Former State Rep. Laurie Slade Funderburk reflects on her 16 years of service to State House District 52 in Kershaw County at her law and insurance office on Walnut Street in Camden. (Martin L. Cahn/C-I)
Former S.C. State Rep. Laurie Slade Funderburk and former State Sen. Vincent Sheheen represented Kershaw County for a combined 36 years in the General Assembly. The two state legislators had their individual interests, reflecting both their personalities and the fact that while Sheheen’s State Senate District 27 covered large portions of Kershaw and Chesterfield counties, along with a smaller portion of Lancaster County, Funderburk’s State House District 52 was self-contained within the borders of Kershaw County, primarily representing the Camden and Lugoff areas, and stretching from Liberty Hill to the Charlotte-Thompson community.
