The Republican Party is set for its “first-in-the-South” presidential primary, scheduled for Jan. 21 here in South Carolina, with all registered voters in the state, regardless of party affiliation, eligible to cast a ballot. Rosalind Watson, director of the Kershaw County Voter Registration Office, said individuals must have registered by Dec. 21 to be able to vote. Absentee voting is available through Jan. 20 and is open to people who, depending on a variety of circumstances, will be unable to attend their polling location on Election Day.
