Voters in Elgin and Lugoff helped to shore up the Democratic nomination for S.C. Senate District 35 candidate Thomas McElveen who won his party’s nomination during Tuesday’s primary. Meanwhile, Republican candidates Tony Barwick and Wade Kolb will take part in a runoff election June 26. A majority of voters in all eight Kershaw County precincts in the recently redrawn District 35 voted for McElveen, who also won the other three counties that make up the district -- Lee, Richland and Sumter.
