Ada S. Williams (“Miss Ada”), 93, of Camden, SC, passed away on February 14, 2013, after a brief illness. Ada was born the 12th of 14 children to Walter and Alice Simons in Ridgeway, SC, on April 20, 1919.

At the age of 18, she married Manning R. Williams, Jr., of Camden, SC. They were married for 48 years, until his death, and had 4 children.

Ada’s defining roles in life were as mother and friend, where she offered praise, hope, support, humor, and love to many. 

Ada is survived by her children, Elaine Syng, Ralph (Nancye) Williams, Constance (Phillip) Washington, and Geoffrey (Jerrye) Williams, her sister Avoid Crosby, grandchildren: Roger, Tanya, Angela, Nicole, Dawn, Todd, and Ramona, and 12 great grand children.

Arrangements are being handled by Cooke Funeral Home  (www.cookefuneralhomeofcamden.com.) 
Funeral services will be presided over by Pastor Ellis White at Camden. First United Methodist Church at 704 W. Dekalb St., Camden, SC on Monday, February 18, 2013, at 11 a.m.  The remains will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UMC whom we thank profusely.The family would also like to thank Palmetto Health Hospice, Dr. Jack Scheuer, Lever Chapel AME Church, Women’s Missionary Society of the AME Church, devoted friends (among whom are Sarah, Cora, & Gladys), extended Simons-Taylor- Williams families, and the citizens of Camden who embraced and loved her.
