A memorial service to celebrate the life of Alanna Critzer Shepherd, 81, of Camden will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. William F. “Chip” Summers, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the John Knox Hall of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Shepherd’s memory to Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 502 Dekalb St., Camden, SC 29020.

Mrs. Shepherd, wife of Herbert Meade Shepherd, Jr., died Saturday, January 7, 2012. Born in Staunton, VA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd M. “Jack” and Carrie Campbell Critzer. Mrs. Shepherd was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Deacon, Sunday School teacher and circle leader. She was also a KCMC Pink Lady Volunteer and former President of the King Haigler Garden Club.

Surviving besides her husband are; 2 daughters, Sharon S. Shepherd, of Charleston, and Ann S. Bowers and her husband Dickie of Lugoff; a son, H. Meade Shepherd, III, of Staunton, VA; 6 grandchildren, A. Sue Crawford, B. Roper Jenkins, III (Melissa), Amy J. Baldwin, Chad Anson Bowers (Colleen), Nicholas Kyle Bowers, and Colby Adam Bowers (Jessica); great grandchildren, Benjamin Roper Jenkins, IV, Amy Patterson Crawford, Mary Ashton Jenkins, Whitfield DuPree Crawford, Franklin Joseph “Tradd” Baldwin, III, McKenzie Elliott Bowers, Megan Avery Bowers, Colson Meyer Bowers, and Brycen Jay Dorey. She was predeceased by a brother, F.M. Critzer, II.
