Mr. Albert Leslie Hare, 94, of Statesville, died Sunday at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born in Kershaw County, S.C. He was a son of the late John David Hare and Etta Mae Hornsby Hare. Mr. Hare served in the U. S. Navy Armed Guard during World War II and later as an auto body mechanic in Camden, S. C. Mr. Hare moved to Statesville in 1962 where he retired from Black Pontiac. He was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and a member of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Navy Armed Guard Breakfast Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Garris Vincent Hare. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Jane H. Caldwell of Statesville and Ruth H. Branham of Elgin, S.C.

Survivors include a son, David A. Hare and his wife, Dixie of Statesville, daughters, Dianne H. Fulmer and her husband, Boyd of Prosperity S.C. and Sandra H. Geiger and her husband, Clifton of Oxford, Ga. Also surviving are a sister, Loree H. Brazell of Lexington, S.C., 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.

Services celebrating Mr. Hare's life will be conductd at 11:00 Wednesday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Holleman and Rev. Glenn Dancy officiating. He will lie in state at the chapel for one hour prior to the service and burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. Tuesday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Deacons of Diamond Hill Baptist Church and Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class of Diamond Hill Baptist Church.
