A funeral service to honor the life of Alvin Vipperman “A.V.” Hooper, 81, of Camden, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. Burial will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military rites. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM, 1 hour prior to the service in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Mr. Hooper passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016. He was born in McAdenville, NC on December 1, 1934 to the late Alvin Mitchell and Edith Vipperman Hooper. Mr. Hooper graduated from Winthrop Training School, Rock Hill, SC and retired from the US Air Force. He served in the Korean War and three tours in Vietnam. Mr. Hooper was awarded the Bronze Star and numerous other awards. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and a life member of Kershaw Masonic Lodge #29 and life member of the American Legion Post 17. Mr. Hooper volunteered at KershawHeath for fifteen years.

Mr. Hooper is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Smith Hooper; sons, Alvin Mark Hooper of Charleston and William Mitchell (Myra) of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren, Al, Zach and Lauren Anne Hooper, all of Johns Island, and Will Hooper of Fort Mill; and his sister, Vivian Funderburke of Rock Hill.

Mr. Hooper was predeceased by his brother, Bob Hooper.
