A funeral service to celebrate the life of Annie B. McLauchlin Brannan, 96, of Bethune, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Gregory Skipper and Rev. John McLeod will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marvin Lee Brown, Marshall Welch, Richard Stokes, Tony Hendricks, Johnny Marshall and Jim Mills.The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 p.m. today, May 17, 2016 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sandy Grove Cemetery Association, c/o Curtis Watkins, 1813 Hobkirk Court, Camden, SC 29020 or SC State Library, Talking Book Services, 1430 Senate Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
Annie, widow of Thomas Brannan, died on Sunday, May 15, 2016, which was also her birthday. She was born in Bethune, SC, the daughter of the late Lucas L. McLauchlin and Ella Catoe McLauchlin. Annie was a graduate of the old Camden Hospital Nursing School and went to USC for one year studying in their premed program. She was a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing at the Old Camden Hospital.
Annie is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ruppe (Tony) of Bethune, SC; son, Wayne L. Brannan of Folly Beach, SC; great niece, Ann Welch (Marshall), who was like a daughter to Annie; grandchildren, Dawn Duffie (Charles), and Chad and Mandy Steppe; great-granddaughters, Katlyn Broughton; McKenzie McCoy and Molly and Maysen Duffie; great-great-grandson, Finley James Broughton; nephew, Travis McLauchlin (Julia Ann); niece Ella Catherine Teal (Stuart.); nieces, Susie Vittorio, Barbara Carrol and Donna Baggerly; and nephew, Joseph Basilo.
Besides her parents and husband, Annie was predeceased by her brothers, Drew, Steve and Sid McLauchlin.
