Memorial services for Annie Hilliard Higgins Wood, age 89, of Camden, SC will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 26th of October at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Camden, S C. Dr. William F. Summers will officiate. Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. The family received friends at Kornegay Funeral Home between the hours of six and eight PM on Tuesday, October 25. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethesda Presbyterian Church Music Fund, 502 DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020 or to Hospice Care of Tri County, 2039 W. DeKalb St., Camden, SC 29020.
Annie B passed away on Sunday, October 23. She was predeceased by her husbands, Henry S. Higgins, Jr. and John W. Wood, Jr. and a brother, Wade Hilliard. Born in Heath Springs, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Roscoe and Brite Mobley Hilliard.
She is survived by her daughters: Toni Rush Faulkenberry (Gary) of Lake Wateree, Deborah Higgins Shine (Pat) of Pawleys Island, Gail Higgins Baldwin (Jim) of Myrtle Beach; son: Henry S. "Hank" Higgins (Sue) of Ft. Mill; grandchildren: Jason Rush, Ryan Rush, Lana Baldwin, Jordan Baldwin, Corley Higgins; sister: Lucille Robertson of Arlington, TX.
She graduated from Heath Springs High School, worked as secretary and bookkeeper for the Town of Great Falls and later for the Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Annie B served for many years as a volunteer at the Kershaw County Medical Center. As a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church for the past twenty-five years, she was active in her circle, Fifty Five Plus, a member of the choir and served on the Member Care Team.
An avid walker, she also enjoyed playing golf, bridge and reading. For over fifty years, friends and family were treated to her gifts of the yeast rolls that she so enjoyed making.
She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to everyone she met and shared good times with. Truly, she will be missed, but will be remembered always.
