A funeral service to celebrate the life of Avalene Truesdale Weathers, 82, of Camden, will be held at 2:00 PM, today, July 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Camden. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family receive d friends Monday, July 25, 2016 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Weathers’ memory to First Baptist Church, RA/GA Camp Scholarships, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Avalene, who was predeceased by the love of her life, Claude, died Saturday, July 23, 2016. She was born in Camden, SC to the late Annie Webb Truesdale and Jessie Ashmore Truesdale. Annma, as she was known to so many, was a special lady who could do just about anything. Avalene loved baking cakes and bread just to share with others. She could sew anything and shared her talents with many through working at B.C. Moore’s in the fabric department. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she worked with children. Her giving and loving spirit will be remembered by all those whose lives she has touched, which were many.

Avalene is survived by her daughter, Lynn W. Glisson (Larry) of Camden, SC, sons; Gene Weathers of Columbia, SC, Roland Weathers (Kathy) of Rick Hill, SC, Kevin Weathers (Darlene) of Camden, SC, special family friend, Clarice Rosinger of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Laurie Delost, John Glisson, Lindsey McGovern (Justin), Matthew Bailey (Jessica), Katie Jothen (Casey), Kayla Weathers and Ashleigh Weathers; 6 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters; and her sisters, Ann Myers of Camden and Frances Patton of Columbia, SC.

Avalene was predeceased by her husband, parents, sisters, Alice Eddings and Doris Morris; and her brothers, W. A. Truesdale and Olin Truesdale.

Special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Columbia for their loving care during her stay there.
