Funeral service to celebrate the life of Barbara Peterson Lee, 79, of Camden, will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Pastor Steven Lee, Rev. Vince Halter and Rev. John Howle will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel beginning at 1:00 PM Wednesday. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Lee’s memory to the American Cancer Society, c/o Gail Kirkland, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.
Mrs. Lee, wife of Clarence LaVerne Lee, died Monday, January 16, 2012. She was first married to the late Kenneth V. Peterson. Born in Englewood, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Estelle Slade Cartwright. She retired from Kershaw County Medical Center, where she was a physical therapy aid. After retirement she continued to volunteer at the hospital for many years. She was a former member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church and was attending Beulah United Methodist Church.
Surviving besides her husband are her daughters, Cheryl Anne Sumrak (Bruce) of Sylva, NC, Barbara Sue Price (Duane) of Ormond Beach, FL, sons, Kenneth Richard Peterson (Joy) of Cassatt, Kevin Douglas Peterson (Patricia) of Lugoff and Keith Allen Peterson (Stephanie) of Ft. Myers, FL; step-sons, Michael Edward Lee (Susan) of Fairbanks, AK, Pastor Steven Fredric Lee (Diane) of Camden and Patrick LaVerne Lee (Cheryl) of Orangeburg; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
