Barrie "Sarge" Patrick Winch, 67, of Camden, passed this life on June 17, 2011 at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on November 28, 1943 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to Roy and Irene Winch. He married Laura Jane Chapman of Lancaster, South Carolina on September 20, 1964. Barrie joined the U.S. Army in January 1960 and served two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded three Bronze Star Medals and numerous other awards and decorations. He retired after almost 23 years of service in December 1982. After retiring from the military, Barrie worked for Lehigh Structural Steel, Thomas & Betts Corporation of Lancaster, Randolph Transportation, Inc of Rock Hill and Lineberger Construction, Inc of Lancaster. Due to health, he officially retired in 2001. Barrie was an avid motorcyclist, a member of the VFW and an American Legion member. He is survived by his wife Jane of the home; daughter Leslie (Libbi Davis) Winch of Dallas, Georgia; son Cary (Jennifer) Winch of Easley, South Carolina; daughter Julie (Kevin) Valasek of Savannah, Missouri; sister Donna (Ken) Howey of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada; and grandchildren Katelyn Valasek, Hunter Valasek, Lauren Winch, Lilly Winch, Tasha Davis, Alizabeth Davis and great-grandchild La'Zaydria Davis.

Barrie was cremated by Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors and Cremation Service of Augusta, Georgia. No services are planned at this time.
