A funeral service to honor the life of Bessie Lee Joye Williams, 97, of Lugoff, South Carolina will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Saint John’s United Methodist Church. Rev. Michal Leonhardt will officiate. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service beginning at 2 P.M. in the church. Burial will follow in Quaker Cemetery in Camden, South Carolina.  

Bessie Lee passed away December 10, 2016. She was born in Camden, South Carolina on December 16, 1918.  Bessie Lee was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Milton James Williams (Bally) and their daughter Joy Carolyn Williams.  She was the daughter of the late Daniel Gaston Joye and the late Julia Eleanor Chewning Joye.  

Bessie Lee was a long time member of Saint Johns United Methodist Church of Lugoff, South Carolina where she was an active member of her Sunday School Class and the Young at Hearts Club.  In order to support the war effort during World War II, Bessie Lee and her husband worked at Wright Brothers Aeronautical in Paterson, New Jersey.  She retired from Skyline Manufacturing Company where she worked as a teletype operator.  Bessie Lee was the salutatorian of her graduating class from Antioch High School.  She was very devoted to her Church and family and loved nothing more in life than serving God and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandson.

She is survived by her daughters Janice Lynn Williams McEvoy (Bill) of Augusta, GA and Joan LeFaye Williams Faris (Bob) of Boykin, SC, granddaughters Jennifer Williams McEvoy Holroyd (Chris) and Joye Carolyn McEvoy both of Augusta, Georgia, and a great grandson Christopher Todd Holroyd, Jr. of Augusta, GA. 

Bessie Lee was predeceased in death by her sisters, Vashti Joye Smith and Henrietta Joye Stewart Harris.
