A funeral service celebrating the life of Betty Davis Ray, 84, of Lugoff, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Eric Boone and Rev. Doug Whitfield will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Ray’s memory to Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ray, widow of Ralph Leslie Ray, was born in Camden, SC. She was the daughter of the late Lula Belle Branham Davis and Benjamin T. Davis. Betty was a 1947 Camden High School graduate, and retired from Roses. A devoted Christian, she was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was loved by all who knew her.

Surviving Mrs. Ray, is daughter, Peggy L. Ray; sons, Carl M. "Chuckie" Ray, Martin D. Ray (Kim), Cleatus T. Ray (Cathi), all of Lugoff; sister, Janice Mattox, sisters-in-law, Doris LaMountain of Topeka KS, Jean Marsh of Lamar, and Linda Ray of Lugoff. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jonathon, Mackenzie, Ethan, and Colton Ray; and great grandchildren,

Shawn, Jaydin, Sophia, and Autumn. Mrs. Ray was predeceased by brother, Bennie Davis, and four sisters, Mary Morris, Flossie Baker, Esther Ray, and Vivian Hinson.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is assisting the family.
