ANDERSON - Mrs. Betty Helms McCaskill, 90, of Anderson, South Carolina formerly of Pageland, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family. 

Betty was born on September 29, 1927 in Union County, North Carolina to the late James Henry Therrell and Ester Aldora Timmons. Betty enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, cooking, and doing word searches and crossword puzzles. She was a member of Mizpah Baptist Church, 

Betty was a true definition of a “Christian Woman.” She loved her Lord and attended church regularly when she was able to do so. She loved her church family very much, even when she was not able to attend church she made sure to watch it on TV. Betty never met a stranger and loved her family with all her heart she will be greatly missed. 

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husbands, Bud Alexander Helms and J.C. McCaskill; sons, Bobby Lee Helms and Ronald Lynn McCaskill, and daughter, Debra Cameron. 

Those left to celebrate and remember her life include her loving children, David Carson Helms of Augusta, Georgia, Jack Richard Helms of Williamsburg, Virginia, George Alexander Helms of Anderson, South Carolina, Shirley Irene Helms of Anderson, South Carolina, Kenneth Paul Helms of Belton, South Carolina, William Thomas Helms of Anderson, South Carolina, Roger Wayne Helms of Camden, South Carolina, John Calvin McCaskill Jr. of Bishopville, South Carolina, and Donald Glen McCaskill of Camden, South Carolina; also numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and Great Great-Grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from the Chapel of Baumgartner Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Smith and Pastor Will Cline officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to service from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Baumgartner Funeral Home, 708 West McGregor Street, Pageland, South Carolina 29728. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or Mizpah Baptist Church, 3659 Jamestown Road, Camden, SC 29020.
