Funeral services to celebrate the life of Cecil Delano “Buddy” Cobb, Jr., 55, of Camden will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, December 9, 2011 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Buddy’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 205, Columbia, SC 29204.
Buddy died Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Born in Bainbridge, MD and grew up in Savannah, GA, he was the son of Beverly Ann Giles Cobb and the late Cecil Delano Cobb. Buddy was previously a teacher and coach with the Chatham County School District at Johnson High School and then became the Assistant Principal at Groves High School in Savannah. He then became the Assistant Principal at Windsor Forest High School and returned to Groves High School where he retired from as Principal. Buddy was recently the Interim Assistant Director at ATEC and a substitute teacher at Camden Middle School, ATEC and CLC. He was a member of the Georgia Retired Educators Association, Camden Bulldog Club, Gamecock Club, the Kiwanis Club and a member of First Baptist Church.
Buddy is survived by his mother of Savannah; wife, Pamela Whitt Cobb; son, Matthew Ryan Cobb of Kingsland, GA and his fiancé Staci Wyatt; stepdaughters, Megan Britt and Ansley Britt of the home; brother, Bill Cobb and his girlfriend, Sandy Hand of Tallahassee, FL and sister, Beverly Shawn Cobb of Savannah.
