Charles L. Gotto (Chuck) died Christmas morning, of Nazareth, Penn. and Camden, S.C., at 8:25 two days after his 94 birthday at Cool Springs Place,in Franklin Tennessee. Charles and his wife Mary had been living in Brentwood,Tennessee with their daughter,Ouida and son-in-law,Buzz Arledge since November 3,where Mary will continue to reside. A memorial service and burial in Quaker Cemetery will take place at a later date.

Charles was born in Nazareth ,Pennsylvania to Carmela and Joseph Gotto on December 23, 1916. He graduated from Nazareth High, lettering in football, baseball, and basketball. In his earlier life he wanted to be a priest or an English teacher. He attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

In 1941 he served in the US Army at the Southern Aviation School in Camden where he trained pilots to fly. While being stationed there, he met Mary Ella Jordan and they were married in 1944.

He began his career as a printer at the Camden Chronicle and later became the advertising manager. In 1976 he joined forces with Fred Sheheen to form the Camden Company. After retirement he worked at the Camden Country Club in the Pro Shop and gave golf lessons to youngsters.

His favorite charity is Boys Town.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ella Jordan of Camden, his son Wayne Gotto of Columbia, daughter Ouida Arledge, brother Ralph Gotto and sisters Donna Engler and Minnie Jursitts of Pennsylvania, and 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren of Tennessee.
