Charlie Horace Olive was born December 31, 1914, in Cataula, GA and passed away peacefully on April 14, 2014, in LaGrange, GA.

Mr. Olive is survived by Bernice Myhand Olive, his loving wife of 76 years and 8 months, Marian Olive Ferguson, his daughter, and Gordon Ferguson, his son-in-law, of LaGrange, GA; his granddaughter, Jenni Ferguson, of Atlanta, GA; three sisters; Margaret MacArthur, Frances Hale (Dennis), and Wilma Davis, all from Columbus, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Annie Mae, brother Harry, and sister Dorothy.

Mr. Olive retired as Electronics Supervisor at DuPont in Camden, SC. He was a man of many talents; drawing, fishing, electronics, and golf – shot a hole in one at 78 years old. Mr. Olive was also a member of Union United Methodist Church in Irmo, SC.

The family is deeply indebted to the caring ministry of Angels of Hope Hospice. The family gives special thanks to Ginger Barnett, Janet Pilgrim, Debra Truitt, Mike Lowe, and Buster Courtney who provided comfort and care.

To celebrate Charlie’s life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17th 11am-12pm at Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home, LaGrange, GA followed by a private graveside service at the Chipley/Pine Mtn. Cemetery, Chipley/Pine Mtn., GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth Children’s Home, 2900 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC or a charitable organization of choice.
