Dallas John "D.J." Mahoney, Jr., 84, of husband of Frankie DuBose Mahoney, died Thursday, July 12, 2012.
Born in Lugoff, SC, on September 27, 1927, he was a son of the late Dallas John Mahoney, Sr. and Leilah Branham Mahoney.
Mr. Mahoney was a graduate of Camden High School and Furman University and was employed by E.I. DuPont for 39 years. He was also a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church of Camden, SC.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Dallas John Mahoney, III (Pam) of Camden, SC; a daughter, Gaye Mahoney Peebles (Rick) of Aiken, SC; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann McManus of Seattle, WA; a grandson, Richard Alan Peebles, Jr. of Branson, MO; and a great-grandson, Dylan Mark Baker of Seattle; two step-daughters Mary Garland Roddey (Lathan) and Jean Dunn White (Richard), both of Sumter, SC; two step-sons, Robert Ernest Dunn (Nancy) and James Clinton Dunn (Kim) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nine step-grandchildren, Martha Annette Roddey McCarley (Robert), Emily Burgess Roddey, Richard Michaux White, III (Meg), William Belton White, Robert Watson Dunn, Peden DuBose Dunn, Joelson DuBose Dunn, Jean Heron Dunn, and James Martin Dunn; and a step-great granddaughter, Mary Boyd McCarley.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Jennings Mahoney; a daughter, Sister Cindy Catherine (Cynthia Louise Mahoney); a sister, Margaret Mahoney Mellichamp; and a brother, Robert Mahoney.
Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, July 15, 2012 in the Quaker Cemetery in Camden, SC with Dr. William F. "Chip" Summers officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home, 2255 Graystone Drive, Sumter, SC.
