A celebration honoring the life of Thomas C. Gavlick, 78, of Lugoff, will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Lugoff Elks BPOE Lodge from 5:00-6:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to raise a drink in his honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, c/o Gail Kirkland, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.

Mr. Gavlick, widower of Jane Hewett Gavlick, died on March 9, 2015, due to complications from colon cancer. Born in Swoyerville, PA, he was the son the of late Blasé and Mary (Toporek) Gavlick. He was a 1963 graduate of Florida State University, was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and retired from DuPont after twenty five years as a computer engineer.

Thomas is survived by his children, Thomas C. Gavlick II (Janet) of Maryville, TN, Pamela Gavlick Jeffers (Phil) of Elgin, SC, Julia Gavlick Ramer, of Lexington, SC and Marianne Gavlick Esparza (Alex) of Lugoff, SC; grandchildren, Tony Jeffers, Ashleigh Carter, Dr. Emily Gavlick, Tim Jeffers, Thomas C. (“Taylor”) Gavlick III, Gantt Jeffers, Brian Bell, Laurel Ramer, Matthew Ramer, and Conner Gavlick; great grandchildren, Gage Cleveland, Noah Jeffers, Elizabeth(“Bitsy”) Carter, and Emma Jeffers.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hertzel and the staff at Kershaw Health for their excellent care provided to Tom and support given to the family.
