Funeral services honoring the life of David Lanier Cook, 83, of Camden, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, September 10, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mr. Cook’s memory to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020.
Mr. Cook died Sunday, September 9, 2012. Born in Springfield, TN, he was the son of the late Charles Wesley and Geneva Armstrong Cook. Mr. Cook was a U. S. Army veteran serving in the Chemical Corp. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he was a member of Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity and served as President of the State Baptist Student Union of Tennessee. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was very active in other church activities. Mr. Cook was instrumental in starting Southside Baptist Church. He was past president of the Camband Club and the Camden Bulldog Club.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Hodge Cook; sons: Charles David Cook (Pam) of Rock Hill, James Michael “Jimmy” Cook (Cynthia) of Greenwood and Donald Lee Cook (Teresa) of Lugoff; brother: Howard Ruskin Cook (Phyllis) of Louisville, KY; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Joe Carter Cook.
