Memorial services for David Lee Meyers, 63, of Camden, will be held at a later date in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higgensville, in Higgensville, MO. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel.
David died Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Born in Brown County, SD, he was the son of the late Borden Charles Meyers and Agnes Lidia Reede Meyers. David was a United States Army Veteran. David began his army career in 1970 and was active duty for 12 years flying an air ambulance. He moved to Lincoln, NE in 1982 where be joined the 24th Med Air Ambulance Company for the Nebraska Army Guard as a UH-1 and UH-60 Standardization Instructor Pilot and Instrument Flight Examiner. He was with the Guard for 25 years where he was instrumental in initiating a comprehensive training program and he was an Army Aviation Safety Officer. David also helped fighting fires in Montana and Nebraska. He accumulated over 10,000 accident free flying hours. David was always known for the enthusiasm he brought to the job. He was adamant about the necessity for professionalism and was very effective in motivating people to do their best. David was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.
David is survived by his wife, Bonnie Kay Meyers; sister, Carol Hein, brothers, Richard and Tim Meyers; mother-in-law, Anna Belle Crowley; sister-in-law, Cheryl Callaway and brother-in-law, Ronnie Callaway.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
