Funeral service for Deloris Neal Drakeford, 63, of 1909 Niagara Drive in Camden will be held Thursday, August 11th, 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Association, 3045 John G. Richards Road with burial in the St. John Baptist Church cemetery. Viewing will be at the funeral home, Wednesday, 12Noon to 7:00 P.M. with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #138 performing their rites from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born in Kannapolis, NC, she was a daughter of the late Grover Stover and the late Idella Neal Brown. Mrs. Drakeford was a member of St. John Baptist Church where she served as Church Clerk, member of the Usher Ministry and the Missionary Society. She retired as a teacher from the Kershaw County Public School System. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Order of Eastern Star Chaper #138 and lifetime member of the Kershaw County NAACP.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Louis Drakeford of Camden, SC; a daughter, LaWanda D. (Leon) Bridges of Catonsville, MD; grandson, Bradley Bridges of Catonsville, MD; sister, Jacqueline Brownof Laurel, MD; three brothers, James Neal of Camden, SC, Minister Charles (Margaret) Neal of Hephzibah, GA and Kenneth (Janie) Neal of Logansville, GA; two Godsons, Charles Lamar Neal and Raijon Jones; 4 aunts, Louise Neal, Allie Stover Harris and Lizzie Jones all of Camden, SC and Mable Biggs of Paterson, NJ; one uncle, Roosevelt Stover of Camden, SC; sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Dixon of Philadelphia, PA, Janie Drakeford of Silver Springs, MD, Martha DuBissette and Lucille Drakeford both of Stamford, CT and Deborah Drakeford of Columbia, SC; brothers-in-law, Earnest (Alfred Mae) Drakeford of Camden, SC, John (Mattie) Drakeford and English (Marlene) Drakeford both of Stamford, CT and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Neal Sampson.
