A funeral service celebrating the life of Gladys "Docia" Lawrence McLeod, 94, of Camden, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 19, 2013 at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church in Camden. Rev. Steve Patterson will officiate. Burial will follow in Quaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM, 1 hour prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Docia’s memory to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020 or the charity of one’s choice.

Gladys "Docia" Lawrence McLeod, widow of John Henry "Mac" McLeod, Jr., was born in Camden, SC, the daughter of the late Winzie M. Lawrence and Cora Lee Connell Lawrence. Docia was a 1941 Camden Hospital Nursing School Graduate and was a retired Register Nurse at DuPont after 27 years. She was a member of the Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, was in the activity Club, and a member and former Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Docia is survived by her son, Richard "Rick" Lawrence McLeod (Sharon "Sherri" Bradley); grandchildren, Rick McLeod, Jr. (Felicia) of Kansas City, MO and Roxie Frum (Daryl) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; great-grandchildren, Morgan McLeod, Gavin McLeod, and Austin Frum; brothers, Thurman and Floyd Lawrence; sisters, Lillie Lawrence and Docia Spainhower.

Besides her husband and parents, Docia was predeceased by her son, "Johnny Mac" McLeod III; brothers, Raymond, Hilton Ray, Robert and Carl Lawrence; sister Zada Belle Hedgepeth.

Docia’s family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff of Pinedale Residiential Center and the Karesh Wing.
