A celebration of life service for Dominick Poeta, 76, of Lugoff, will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church. The Rev. Joe Stines will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078.

Mr. Poeta died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 after a brief illness with cancer. Born in La Jose, Pa., he was a son of the late Luigi and Laura Agnes Shirley Poeta. He retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He also retired from Colonial Motor Freightliner and retired from the City of Forest Acres where he was a Supervisor of Public Works.

Mr. Poeta was a member of El-Bethel Faith Community Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, raising chickens and most of all spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, El-Dora Hinson Poeta; son, Dale Poeta (Linda) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Laura Poeta Watson (Tripp) and Charles Durant "Charlie" Poeta; brothers, Delano Poeta and Herbert Poeta; and sisters, Jean Poeta Icampo and Marie Poeta Smith. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Lewis Poeta; brothers, Charlie, John, Roy, Frank, George and Louis Poeta; and sisters, Lena Poeta Berring and Phyllis Poeta Joy.
