A funeral service to celebrate the life of Doris Truesdale Morris, 85, of Camden, SC, will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Camden. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, May 18, 2015 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Morris’ memory to First Baptist Church, Music or Flower Ministry, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Doris Truesdale Morris died Saturday, May 16, 2015. She was born in Lee County, SC, the daughter of Annie Webb Truesdale and Jesse Ashmore Truesdale. Mrs. Morris graduated from Antioch High School as valedictorian. She was the office manager at the Utilities Department for the City of Camden. After retiring, she received the key to the city and was taken to lunch by Mayor Mary Virginia Clark, for her tireless efforts manning the phone lines 24/7 during Hurricane Hugo. She was head of the Flower Committee at First Baptist Church and really enjoyed singing in the First Baptist Church Choir. Mrs. Morris and her sisters enjoyed directing numerous weddings throughout the community.

Mrs. Morris was the wife of William T. Morris, and is survived by her son, Dr. W. Phil Morris of Swansea, SC; daughters, Phyllis Wainscott and Pam Morris, both of Camden, SC; grandchildren, Brian Morris, Elizabeth Wainscott of FL, Joel Wainscott, Rachael Caulder and Lacey Hornsby; great-grandchildren, Austin Morris, Chandler Morris, Chloe Morris, Travis Jones, Owen Jones, Noah Caulder and Reese Caulder; and her sisters, Ann Myers, Frances Patton of Columbia and Avalene Weathers.

Mrs. Morris was predeceased by her parents; sister, Alice Eddings; and her brothers, W. A. Truesdale and Olin Truesdale.
