LAKE WATEREE -- Elbert Lewis (Ace) Young, 83, was called home by his heavenly Father during his sleep on Sunday, February 28, 2016.  He was born in Sumter SC and was called Sonny by his friends and family.

After serving in the USAF, he started his career at DuPont in Lugoff, SC where he was given the nickname Ace by his coworkers. He retired from DuPont after 38 years of service.  He made his home on Lake Wateree with Jo his wife of 62 years. He enjoyed sharing their lake home with the 4H Club for many years and loved fishing, boating and the firework celebrations on the lake.

Surviving Mr. Young is his wife, Jimmie Jo Young,; sons, Bert Young (Brenda) and Curt Young (Rita) both of Lexington, SC;  grandchildren, Merrissa Ritch (Michael), Lauren Tavernier, Kari Fulmer (Edward), Kristy Schertz (Jerom), Shannon Young, Steven Young, Justin Hopper (Stacey), Beth Young, Jayson Hopper; and 8 great grandchildren.  Mr. Young was predeceased by his parents Elbert L. and Bessie Webster Young, son Todd Sterling Young and great grandchild Jackson Lewis Young.

Services will be held today, March 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff with visitation preceding the service from 1-2 PM. Interment will be at Forrest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden, following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to New Life Christian Outreach, 411 Hwy 601 S, Lugoff, SC 29078 or a charity of your choice.
