CAMDEN – A memorial service to celebrate the life of Elmer Franklin Zurn, 90, of Camden, SC will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. Rev. Steve Patterson will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden SC 29020; Food for the Soul, P.O. Box 1591, Camden SC 29021; Epworth Children’s Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250.

Mr. Zurn died Thursday, May 25, 2017. He was the widower of Barbara Grizzard Zurn. Born March 18, 1927 in Hancock, New York he was the son of the late Clarence Cecil Zurn and Blanche Jenson Zurn and brother to the late Charles Zurn.

After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, Mr. Zurn received degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from Duquesne University and University of Virginia. He worked for Allied Chemical and Union Carbide before moving to Camden, SC and starting his own business. He was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Marjorie Zurn of Charlotte, NC, brother Clarence Curtiss Zurn (Leona) of Long Eddy , NY, sisters in law Elsie Ritz (Donald) of Franklin, NY, Evelyn Graybeal of Easton, MD, Charlotte Dimmig of Lansdale, PA, Mary Darby of Midlothian, VA. and 18 nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to give thanks to the staff of the Richard M Campbell Veterans Home and Patriots Hospice of Anderson, SC for the kind, compassionate and respectful care given to Mr. Zurn and his family.
