Ethel, widow of Rufus Samuel Griffin, Jr. and known to most as Granny or Griffin, died Thursday, September 29, 2016. She was born on June 30, 1907 in the Bradford Springs Community of Sumter County, the daughter of the late William Ashley Maxcy and Ida D. Capell Maxcy Britton. She loved her neighbors all over the US where they moved with her late husband, Rufus S. Griffin. Ethel was a very popular lady all her life, from the Flapper years to the recent days. She loved traveling with her church group on tours to New England and the Eastern US. Ethel was a member of Lytteton Street United Methodist Church since 1958. She could sew anything from drapes to clothes.
Ethel is survived by her son, Charles R. Griffin Sr. (Virginia) of Camden; daughter, Juanita E. Griffin of Camden; grandchildren, Casey L. Eudy of Camden and Charles R. Griffin, Jr., (Lindsey) of Columbia; great-grandsons, Griffin Eudy and Gavin Eudy; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Ethel was predeceased by her parents; husband; brothers, Hazel Maxcy, Harry Maxcy and Whitt Britton; and her sisters, Mary M. Hancock, Elizabeth M. Trapp and Carrie Lou B. Ardis.
Thanks must be said to all the employees of the Karesh Wing for almost 5 years of love and care shown to her and our family.
