A funeral service to celebrate the life of Evelyn Reynolds Bowers, 92, of Camden, was held Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at First Baptist Church. Rev. John Sorrells officiated. Burial was in Cassatt Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to Pinedale Assisted Living, 798 Hermitage Pond Road, Camden, SC 29020.

Mrs. Bowers died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018. She was born in Pender County, N.C., the daughter of the late Pleasant Gee and Sarah Ruth Lambert Reynolds. She was married to Cecil A. Bowers. She graduated in 1943 from Edmonds High School in Sumter, SC. Mrs. Bowers volunteered with the USO in the 1940’s, retired from Bank of America after 37 years of employment, was a member of First Baptist Church in Camden, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Service Sorority, VFW Auxiliary, enjoyed gardening, walking, and spending time with her family and many friends.

Mrs. Bowers is survived by her children, Stephen Bowers of Camden, Rebecca Bowers Mooneyhan of Camden and Julie Bowers Moniot (Daniel) of Greenville; grandchildren, Lori Young of Lugoff, Jenny Mooneyhan of Columbia, Sandy Shaw (Keith Dixon) of Camden, Shannon Campbell of Greenville; Brian Bowers of Campot Cambodia; Kevin Bowers of Woodstock, GA, Steven Mooneyhan (Jessica) of Cassatt, Aly Mooneyhan Clisby (Chris) of Columbia and Sarah Moniot of Greenville; great-grandchildren, True Young and Lauryn Young, both of Lugoff, Sydney Campbell and Jake Campbell of Greenville, Sierra Simms and Tripp Johnson of Camden and Shawn Corbett and Emma Mooneyhan, all of Cassatt; great-great-granddaughter, Rowan Uher of Lugoff; sisters, Jean McCathern and Diane Galloway, both of Sumter; brother, Everett Reynolds of Olympia, WA; and the father of her children, Cecil Bowers of Camden.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Bowers was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Bowers Shaw; sister, Florence Bailey; and her brothers, Bruce Reynolds and Pleasant Gee Reynolds, Jr.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
