A memorial service to celebrate the life of Frances Swafford Coffee Wallace, 87, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Wildewood Downs, 1001 Wildewood Downs Circle, Columbia, SC 29223, 803-555-1212. The Rev. Dr. George Crow will officiate. A Celebration of Life service will follow the memorial service at Wildewood Downs. Memorials may be made in her memory to Palmetto Health Hospice, P.O. Box 7275, Columbia, SC 29202.
Frances Swafford Coffee Wallace, was a widow of her first husband, Robert E. Coffee and widow of her second husband, Matthew B. Wallace, died Saturday, June 8, 2013. She was born in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late Bernard and Thelma Holloway Swafford. Frances was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Camden and an associate member of the Northeast Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC. She was a graduate of Brenau College and was the former Governor’s Mansion Director under the John Carl West Administration.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Beth Kearse and her husband, Richard M. of Columbia, SC and Ann Jennings of Columbia, SC; son, Robert E. "Chip" Coffee, Jr. and his wife, Betty of Georgetown, SC; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Besides her husbands and parents, Frances was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Bernard Swafford and a beloved son-in-law, Alan Jennings.
