A funeral service to honor the life of Gene C. “Chick” Guinn, 89, of Camden, SC, will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Rev. Gene Rollins and Rev. Mary D’Alessio will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Chick’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 810, Memphis, TN 38101. Any food donations may be made to Food for the Soul.
Chick, husband of Jo Ann Julian Guinn, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015. He was born in Camden, SC, the son of the late J. D. Guinn, Sr. and Bessie Crolley Guinn. Chick was a graduate of Newberry College class of 1950. He was a US Navy veteran having served in the Pacific Theatre. He also served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a SC National Guardsman. Chick was a member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church.
Chick is survived by his wife; brother, Billy Guinn of Camden, SC; and his sister, Doris Caulder formerly of Camden, SC.
Chick was predeceased by his parents and his 5 brothers, Jack, Gail, Ivan, Curtis, and Dr. Gilbert Guinn.
