Funeral services to celebrate the life of George A. Wilson, 92, of Lugoff, were held Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 3:00 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church with burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. John Mims officiated. The family received friends Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mr. Wilson’s memory to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 45 Roseborough Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.

Mr. Wilson, widower of Ethel Bell Wilson, died Thursday, March 31, 2011. Born in Lugoff, he was the son of the late Leila Ray and George A. Wilson, Sr. Mr. Wilson was the owner of Wilson Studebaker & Mercedez Benz Company in Sumter and Lugoff Auto Sales in Lugoff. He was the last Studebaker Packard dealer in Sumter. Mr. Wilson was also a member of the Lugoff Optimist Club, a life member of the Elk’s Club in Sumter and a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children, Thomas J. “Tommy” Wilson, Sr. and his wife Diane of Lugoff and Georgia Wilson Osteen and her husband David of Lugoff; grandchildren, Thomas J. Wilson, Jr. of El Paso, TX, Timmy John Wilson of El Paso, TX, David Osteen, Jr. and his wife Amanda of Blythewood, Todd Osteen of Blythewood, Julie Turner Stockman and her husband Robert of Elgin and Bran Turner and his wife Angie of Charlotte, NC; six great grandchildren, Robert Turner Stockman, Madison Grace Stockman and Whitley, Brook, Noah and Braden Turner and brother, Wilbur “Buddy” Wilson of Camden and TN. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lonnie and Marion Wilson.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
