A funeral service to celebrate the life of George Donald Stokes, 71, of Camden, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Camden. Rev. Bruce Hancock and Rev. Joe Stines will officiate. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM, Monday, December 9, 2013 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in his memory to Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1975 Antioch Road, Camden, SC 29020.
George Donald Stokes died December 7, 2013. He was born in Camden, SC, the son of the late David Kershaw and Annie Bell Smith Stokes. He retired after 27 years from DuPont and was a long time vegetable and livestock farmer. Donald was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church in Camden. He was a member of Lucknow Lodge #212.
Donald is survived by his wife, Aileen Atkinson Parker; son, George D. Stokes, Jr. of Antioch; daughters, Brenda Dabbs (Nathan) of Lugoff, SC, Tammy Stephens (Rhett) of Elgin, SC, Amy Norton (Sean) of Atlanta, GA, and Jennifer Stokes of Lexington, SC; stepson, Larry Parker (Elizabeth) of Lexington; grandchildren, Rachel Dabbs Branham, Rebecca Dabbs Branham, Jonathan Stokes, George "Donny" Stokes III, Christina Stokes Jones, Carrie Stokes and Kyle Parker; sister, Molly Brown (Olin) of Columbia, SC; brothers, David Kershaw Stokes, Jr. (Norma) of Inman, SC, Clarence Stokes of Antioch, William "Bo" Stokes (Ann) of Antioch; sister-in-law, Velma Shealey and brother-in-law, George Bell; and his four legged babies "The Boys", Wheat, Spanky, Little Man and Holly.
Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret "Bill" Brown (Woodrow), Marie Bell, and brother, Roy Stokes.
