Jerry Hayes died peacefully, surrounded by his family in Charleston, S.C. on Wednesday July 26th, at the age of 77.  He was born in Jedburg, South Carolina on March 24th, 1940 to parents Gordon M. Hayes and Leecie Cockcroft Hayes.

Jerry graduated from Clemson University with a degree in chemical engineering and was a lifelong Clemson tigers fan.  He worked for the DuPont Company until his retirement in 1998. Jerry enjoyed fishing, gardening, whitewater river rafting, and spending time outdoors, where he felt most connected with Great Spirit. He was a pillar of the community at Springbank Retreat Center in Kingstree, SC. He made true friends everywhere he went. He was a light of hope and offered a strong shoulder to lean on to countless friends and family members.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Joan Miller; his sons Mike Hayes, Tony Hayes, Josh Miller and James Willetts; his grandsons Adam Hayes and Jack Hayes; and his brothers Jim Hayes and David Hayes. A memorial service will be at a later date. Information about this will be forthcoming.
