A funeral service to celebrate the life of Gerald W. Truesdell, Sr, 80, of Westville, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM, today, April 19, 2016 at Bethany Baptist Church in Westville. Rev. Craigan Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at his home and after the service in the church Family Life Center. Memorials may be made in Mr. Truesdell’s memory to Bethany Baptist Church Family Life Center, PO Box 488, Westville, SC 29175.

Mr. Truesdell, widower of Barbara Faulkenberry Truesdell, died Saturday, April 16, 2016. He was born in Westville, SC, the son of the late John L. Truesdell and Ruth Young Truesdell. Mr. Truesdell was the retired former owner of KerWest. He was a lifetime member of Bethany Baptist Church, former Sunday school director and former deacon. Mr. Truesdell was the past president of the American Logger’s Council, member of Palmetto Timber Association and Palmetto Timber Fund. He also was a former board member of Kershaw County Medical Center. Mr. Truesdell was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and former member of the Camden Country Club. 

Mr. Truesdell is survived by his daughter, Kay T. Young of Manning, SC; grandchildren, Sonya Payne (Eddy), Stephen Sims (Staci), Heather Gowdy (David), Ivy Howard (Curt), Holly McCabe, Brittany Bailey (Steven) and Jeremy Truesdell (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Jacob, Christopher, Jonathan and Emma Sims, Bridget and Tori McCabe and Alissa Howard; sister, Elaine T. Smith; brother, John Earl Truesdell; and his companion of 6 years, Debbie Atkinson.

Mr. Truesdell was predeceased by his wife; daughter, Debra T. Sims; son, Gerald W. “Jerry” Truesdell, Jr.; and his sister, Verna Truesdell.
