Funeral services to celebrate the life of Grace Carolyn Rhoden Neal, 89, of Camden were held Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Camden with burial following in Lugoff First Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Bruce Hancock officiated. The family received friends Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Neal’s memory to the A. Sam Karesh Long Term Care, 1315 Roberts Street, Camden, SC 29020.
Mrs. Neal died Thursday, February 10, 2011. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late, William Brooker Rhoden and Grace West Rhoden. She was a registered nurse having attended the University of Georgia in Athens and served as a clinical instructor and taught work management at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta. Mrs. Neal was also a former nursing instructor at Camden Hospital. She was in the Adult, Silvertones and Handbell Choirs at First Baptist Church in Camden where she was a member.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Neal; children, Jimmy Neal and his wife Nancy and Barbara Culler and her husband Chris; grandchildren, Callie and Zack Neal and Clayton and Neal Culler. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Rodney Neal; brothers, Charlie Rhoden and Kenneth Adams and sisters, Ellen Rush, Elouise Clyburn, Ila Mae Pate and Sybil Rhoden.
Grace had been a patient in the Karesh Wing for over 7 years and her family would like to thank all of the nurses and caregivers for their loving care.
