A funeral service for Grover William “G.W.” Smith, 76 of Cassatt, was held at 11:00 o’clock a.m. Thursday, in Beaverdam Baptist Church, Cassatt. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The Revs. Charles Miller and Homer Hinson officiated.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, December 8, 2015, in KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Hartsville, SC, he was a son of the late William Randolph and Lessie Mae Mahaffey Smith. Mr. Smith was a mechanical technician, most recently retiring from Kendall Co. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Smith was a avid collector of antique tractors, die cast model cars and antique cars. He also enjoyed collecting and repairing clocks. Mr. Smith was a amazing wood carver, enjoyed riding Harley Davison motorcycles and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.

Surviving is the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Barbara S. “Bobbie” Smith of the home; 2 sons, Keith Smith and his special friend, Maggie, Chuck Smith and his wife Diane all of Cassatt; 5 grandchildren, Heather and her husband Chuck, Michaela, Micah, Nicole and her husband Bobby and Christina, and his sister, Doris Walters and her husband Leo.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church, 1684 Old Georgetown Road – West, Cassatt, SC 29032.
