A funeral service to celebrate the life of Harry Losey, age 89, will be held at First Baptist Church in Camden, SC, at 2: p.m. today, February 1, 2019. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall prior to the service at 1 p.m. today. Mr. Losey died Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Born in Baleville, NJ, he was the son the late William Oscar Losey and Maud Aber Losey.
Harry was a retired sergeant in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne and was a World War II and Vietnam Veteran. He was also retired from DuPont. Harry was the former director of the Kershaw County Cancer Society Road to Recovery Program and Kershaw County Medical Center Out Patient Clinic Volunteer, Life Member of Post 5928 VFW, member of Post 17 American Legion where he lead the honor guard for many years. He also went to Washington DC as part of “The Honor Flight”.
Harry is survived by his wife, Berta Mae Tidwell Losey, of Camden, SC; daughter, Kelli L. Wessinger (Richard) of Chester, SC; step-daughter, Barbara Clyburn of Lugoff, SC; step-son, Wayne Tidwell (Gena) of Cassatt, SC; sister, Isabell L. Pluta of Newton, NJ; brother Earl C. Losey of Redding, CA; granddaughter Annie Wilson (Robert); grandson, Michael Wessinger (Krista) and six step-grandchildren.
Harry is predeceased by his first wife Annie Robinson Losey, sister, Ethel L. Jenks and brothers, William D. Losey and Russell G. Losey.
