Hattie Mae Shaw-Duncan, 68, departed this life on Saturday, August 4, 2018 after a long illness under Agape Hospice Care. Born on April 6, 1950, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Carolina Shaw, Sr. and Maggie Martin Shaw.
At an early age she joined Mt. Olive AME Church, where she was a faithful member. She was educated in the public schools of Lee County. She was employed for 22 years at Skyline MFG and 35 years at Mayo Suit World.
Hattie Mae married Hammie Lewis Duncan on July 29, 1967. To this union two children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 51 years, Hammie L. Duncan; one daughter, Sandra (Michael) Flournoy of Midway, GA; one grandson, Kristopher L. Duncan of Macon, GA; one brother, Carolina (Mazie) Shaw of Woodrow; ten sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 68 Duncan Road, Rembert.
Funeral services will be held today, August 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. from the Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, 2738 Woodrow Road (U S Highway 441), Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, pastor, the Rev. Joe David Shaw, Jr., eulogist.
The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a. m.
The funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m.
Burial will be in the Cooksfield Cemetery, J D Herriott Road, Dalzell.
