A memorial service to honor the life of Herbert Meade ”Shep” Shepherd, Jr., 90, of Camden, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Camden. Rev. John Hallman will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in John Knox Hall. Memorials may be made in Shep’s memory to Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 502 DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Herbert Meade “Shep” Shepherd, Jr., widower of Alanna Critzer Shepherd, died Thursday, April 9, 2015. He was born in Waynesboro, VA, the son of the late Emily Adkins Shepherd Altice and Herbert Meade Shepherd, Sr. Shep was a US Navy WWII veteran, having served 39 months active duty in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, where he served as a former elder and deacon, was a member of the choir, and served on the property committee. Shep was a member of Staunton Lodge #13, the Jamil Temple, a life member of the Camden Shrine Club and a life member and former president of the Staunton Jaycees.

Shep is survived by his daughters, Ann S. Bowers of Lugoff, SC, Sharon S. Shepherd of Plum Branch, SC; son, H. Meade Shepherd III of Staunton, VA; grandchildren, Alanna Sue Jenkins Crawford, Benjamin Roper Jenkins III (Melissa), Amy Jen 

kins Beckum (Russell), Chad Anson Bowers (Colleen), Nicholas Kyle Bowers (Sonja) and Colby Adam Bowers (Jessica); and great-grandchildren, Amy Patterson Crawford, Whitfield Dupree Crawford, Benjamin Roper Jenkins IV, Mary Ashton Jenkins,  Franklin Joseph Baldwin III “Tradd”, McKenzie Elliott Bowers, Megan Avery Bowers,

Colson Meyer Bowers, Nicson Bobby Bowers, Gavin Glenn Bowers and Brycen J. Dorey.

Besides his wife and parents, Shep was precedeased by his son-in-law, Bobby G. “Dickie” Bowers.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
