A funeral service to celebrate the life of Jean Davies Long, 90, of Camden, SC, was held Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. Rev. Steve Patterson and Rev. David Weaver officiated. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family received friends prior to the service in the Choir Room. Memorials may be made to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Jean died Monday, October 9, 2017. She was born in Sherando, VA, the daughter of the late Roswell Davies and Josephine Hyden Davies. Jean was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church and was a charter member of The Friendship Sunday School Class. Jean received her BA degree from James Madison University in Bridgewater, VA and was an elementary teacher in Stuarts Draft, VA and a teacher’s assistant for the special needs at Camden Elementary School.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Debbie Heming (James) and Kathi Hunter (Tom), all of Camden; granddaughter, Erin Kreisman (Todd); grandsons, Brendan Chick (Lacy) and Denver Hunter (Samantha); and great-grandchildren, Noah Hunter, Logan Hunter and Sullivan Chick.

Jean was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Truman Elmer Long; and her brothers, C. Maxwell Davies and Howell Landon Davies.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wildewood Downs Memory Care and Longterm Care for their care and compassion. The family would also like to thank Regency Hospice for their support.
